In collaboration with Buxton Community School, Three's Company took a group of Year 11 and 12 students and transformed the Community School's studio into a theatre in-the-round to stage Timberlake Wertenbaker’s groundbreaking play.

The piece follows the first group of soldiers and criminals 'transported' to Botany Bay, Australia in 1788. Based on true events, we follow Ralph Clarke as he struggles to direct a production of George Farquhar’s The Recruiting Officer with a cast of convicts. Alone in a new and alien land, issues of morality, crime and punishment are questioned anew and the power of theatre finds a unique avenue for its expression.

Directed by Yaz Al-Shaater and Tom Crawshaw, the production starred Michael Grady-Hall as Captain Jemmy Cambell and Harry Brewer and saw the group working with frequent collaborators Haroun Al-Shaater and Kayleigh MacDonald for the first time.
